NEWSFLASH! FEBRUARY 5, 2017:
Ron joins autistic singer Thara Marie at the 2017 Philippine Autism Angels Walk
to be held at the Mall of Asia, Metro Manila, Philippines
OCTOBER 22, 2017
2nd concert of 'ONE VOICE #2'
is being readied at the Vaughn Playhouse in Vaughn, Ontario, Canada. Further info TBA soon....
A long time ago, at
aged 2, Ron became fascinated with the Yamaha keyboard at home at
Wellesley Street, East even before he was diagnosed with autism at 3. He
would crawl and walk to the keyboard everyday to look and feel very
quietly, intently for hours. One day, he just did it, on his own
without a word, he played the Barney song on one finger perfectly all by
himself.

If I want to let loose, I write. Whenever I am happy, I write. If I am sad, I also write. Writing unleashes something in me. But this time, I am writing because I am inspired... and blessed. It's because of a very kind and gentle boy. He is like a baby brother. But he calls me Tita. I couldn't help liking the boy because he is sweet. He is for me, without a doubt, exceptional. He is Ron.
Ron is Tita Lucy and Tito Jun's son. Tito Jun's dad (and to my parents their Ninong Dr. Adea) had been my mother's employer when they had a clinic here in Paete, and Tita Lucy (and her family) has been our kapitbahay sa ibaba even until now whenever they are nagbaBalik-Paete from Canada.
Going back to Ron, when I was introduced to him, he said, "May I hug you Tita?" and I replied, "Of course." I didn't tell anyone that Ron instantly filled my longing for a (male) sibling. I know Ron is a special kid, but beyond that, I saw a very typical child, a very warm and sensitive human being. He has full of fondness for his parents. He loves to hug Tito Jun and kiss Tita Lucy.
When we watched "A" Festival of Arts in UP Los Baños where Ron played the piano, I was amazed. Ron is indeed a very skilled pianist. He supplied us with wonderful array of musical pieces. Along with Ron were special children from Autism Society Philippines, Laguna Chapter.
As we were watching, a lot of thoughts engulfed me. These children are so talented and while they were performing, the audiences' eyes were glued to the stage. Ron's piano recital highlighted the event. The group, (Autism Society Philippines Laguna Chapter) mentioned the magnanimous support from Tito Jun and Tita Lucy, before Ron's presentation. There I have known how humble Ron's parents are, how supportive they are to Ron, how loving and attentive they are to their precious. Even before the start of the presentation, Tito Jun never left Ron's side, while Tita Lucy coordinated with the staff. Their (Ron's parents) dedication is notable, and worked wonders, especially to Ron.
What really touched me was the finale, where the children gathered together on the stage with their mom or dad, and all of them were told to give a rose to their mom (or dad). At that point, Ron hurriedly looked for Tita Lucy (who was with us sitting at the audiences' area). Because Ron was accompanied by Tita Jun, and there was only one rose, he then hugged Tito Jun and walked briskly towards her mom to give the flower. Little gesture to say thank you? It was awesome for me. Ron really got me there. Those little things are so important to me, they make so much difference. Others perhaps hadn't notice Ron's gesture that afternoon, but for sure it was stored in his parents' hearts. Ron taught me many things, as well as the other children who performed that afternoon. They showed me wisdom, and they answered many questions in my head. All of us needed love in our lives. and acceptance.and believing. You are like a baby brother. Though you call me Tita. I couldn't help liking you because you're sweet. You are for me, without a doubt, exceptional. Thank you, Ron. mheybags January 12, 2005

I couldn't help but hold back my emotions while reading your article. Indeed, Ron is a very lovable, loving and sensitive person. Everyone who has known him had been touched by his loving ways. But nevertheless, I should have raised my hat off to you instead because little that I know that while you sit quietly in the audience with Joanne your sister, your whole being was being filled with this wonderful thoughts about us. You are indeed a writer in nature...talked little but uses the power of your pen to convey your thoughts. KUDOS to you. Your Mom Nena and Dad Peter must be really proud of you. It's a pleasure to meet you. Send my regards to your Dad and sister. You're all been like our own family while we were in Paete. Again, thank you very much. Tito Jun and Tita Lucy

I'm glad they watched the musicfest in Los Banos. Tell them "TY" for watching, and spread the news about the talents of these wonderful and incredible children. this is precisely the reason why we had this musicfest so we can showcase their talents and thereby build acceptance and understanding of their uniqueness. Anyway, pagaling ka rin, hane? Alam kong balik ka na sa trabaho, pero ingat pa rin, OK? Jun

Thanks for sharing, Mhey... As usual, madami ka na namang pinaiyak sa ginawa mo....

Yes, Ron-ron is indeed exceptional. My two children are very proud of him. Parating ibinibida sa mga classmates nila at kalaro nila and they are very supportive and protective of him.
I've seen firsthand the difficulties and obstacles of raising an autistic child and talagang hats off ako kay utol Luchie at bayaw Jun dahil sa hindi biro ang lumagay sa situation nila... It requires a lot of sacrifices and patience...
Anyway, ron is our walking database.... If we need to know the birthday or plate numbers of someone in our PI Canada Chapter, the answer is a phone call away from Ron... If wants want to know the shopping hours in a certain mall in the Greater Toronto area, just ask Ron... Rgds, Rey
